About Library

The library is named after the founder of the college, Moulana Abussabah. It has an invaluable collection of 17300 volumes in Malayalam, Arabic, and English languages including hundreds of reference books and more than 29 national and international periodical subscriptions. The library is automated with integrated library management open software named Koha. The library automation was started in 2016 with a software named BookMagic and migrated in 2019 to Koha ILMS. Books are classified and arranged on the shelves according to Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC). It offers Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), a powerful module of Koha software which facilitates advanced searches, is provided to locate the documents available in the Library quickly. Students can renew a book using their password through OPAC module, a multilingual inventory. Apart from this, a catalogue in card form is also available in Arabic and English languages for retrospective collection. The Library has a wide repository of books, journals, CDs, newspapers, e-resources, previous year question papers, etc. The circulation facility using barcodes ease the check in and checkout process of library documents. Facility to reserve a checked out volume to another reader is also provided. Newly arrived books are displayed at the entrance. The new members are given proper guidance and orientation regarding the effective usage of library and its amenities. The Network Resource Center with wifi connection facilitates both students and teachers to access wide range of online resources. Facilities like Photostat, Drinking Water, and lavatory are also available. ‘Arabic for Beginners’ and ‘English for Beginners’ are the special collections arranged for those who are starting to learn Arabic and English languages. Entry and exit are recorded automatically using In-Out Management System. Library Vayanakkoottam, an initiative of the college Library, is an active forum that organizes events to promote passion for reading among teachers and students. The Library is also successfully running a Wall Magazine which is contributed actively by the students and staff of the institution. An advisory committee is functioning to render necessary suggestions on matters related to library.

Organizational Setup

The college library system contains class libraries, departmental reference library and a central library. A separate reading room is functioning for light reading.


Library Collection
The library has a collection of more than 17100 copies including Arabic Kithabs, English texts, and Malayalam books. The library subscribes to nearly 50 periodicals.

Automation 
The Library is automated using KOHA ILMS and Bookmagic (Arabic Version) for circulation control and offers Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). The OPAC is connected through internet for easy access to the collections. Members are given bar coded ID cards to facilitate easy check out and check in. Transactions are recorded through barcode scanners. Automated Visitors Register is provided to record entry and exit.
